Yellow fever
Yellow fever is caused by a virus carried by mosquitoes. It is spread through the bite of an infected mosquito. Illness ranges from a fever with aches and pains to severe liver disease with bleeding and yellowing skin (jaundice).
This disease is common in South America and in sub-Saharan Africa. Symptoms primarily occur 3 to 6 days after infection with the virus. There is no specific treatment for yellow fever infection.
