Utah Healthcare Infection Prevention Governance Committee (UHIP-GC) Agenda and Minutes
The Utah healthcare infection prevention-governance committee (UHIP-GC) is a group of health experts who understand infectious diseases, infection prevention, microbiology, pharmacy, multidrug resistant organisms (MDRO), and healthcare-associated infections. The committee includes 3 subcommittees that meet quarterly. The full committee meets every 6 months. The names and roles of the subcommittees follow.
One group is the UHIP-GC multidrug resistant organism (MDRO) subcommittee. They help hospital and nursing home staff understand how to stop germs from spreading to other patients. This is important for MDROs, which are very hard to treat. Their goal is to keep patients safe from dangerous infections.
Another group is the UHIP-GC laboratory surveillance subcommittee. Their goal is to expand the capability of all labs in the state of Utah to enable testing for more germs. This group works to improve communication. Doctors find out quickly when patients have dangerous germs. That helps them protect people from those germs.
The third subcommittee is the UHIP-GC antimicrobial stewardship subcommittee. This group aims to make sure medicines are always prescribed in the best way and only when they are needed. These experts organize training. They build communication between doctors and others. This helps patients get the best treatment for infections.
The agendas and minutes from these meetings will be posted on this page. Feel free to contact the Office of Communicable Diseases at 801-538-6191 or send a message to [email protected] if you have questions about this committee or to request minutes from previous meetings.
