Scabies
Scabies
Scabies is a common skin infection caused by tiny mites. The mites burrow into the upper layer of the skin where it lives and lays its eggs. The most common symptoms of scabies are intense itching and a pimple-like skin rash. The scabies mite usually is spread by direct, prolonged, skin-to-skin contact with a person who has scabies. It usually takes about 3 weeks after infection for symptoms to show in a person who has never had scabies. To get rid of scabies, treatment is essential. Medicine that treats scabies is only available with a doctor’s prescription.
